Lyrical, emotive, evocative...like all good instrumentals, this seems to have an implied narrative, and the real joy is in the differences in how each listener interprets it. The feeling I get from it...one of wistful remembrance, maybe a hint of regret...is going to be at least a little different filtered through any and everybody else’s lebenswelt.
Unlike the majority of instrumentals...even some of the greats...there’s an admirable succinctness to this. The “language” of the implied narrative is eloquent and clever, varied without straying into mood swing territory. And once the statement is made, it’s done. One tidy package, like a great speech.

This song has the same effect as 'Moon River' A melancholy, but welcome feeling. I'll assume Savannah. Georgia. Beautiful song.
